Timpview’s theater and performing arts program are thrilled about the production of this year’s fall musical, The Little Mermaid. The show is running from Nov 13th to Nov 18th, featuring a total of six performances, including a Saturday Matinee. Tickets are priced at $11 for adults and $8 for students and children, available for purchase at the door, or online.
Since the start of auditions in late August, the cast and crew have been hard at work transforming Timpview’s stage into a shimmering underwater world filled with vibrant color, music, and magic. With well known songs, exciting characters, and the beautiful design elements, this year’s fall show will be nothing short of breathtaking. Here is a closer look at the acting journeys of some cast members, and their experience with The Little Mermaid.
Junior, Claire LeCheminant will portray the role of Ariel. LeCheminant describes playing Ariel as “a dream come true”, sharing that every time she steps onstage, she is reminded of how grateful she feels to “play such a wonderful role and to work with such wonderful people.” She has loved being a part of Timpview’s theater program, and adores the supportive, fun, and kind environment made by everyone involved. One of Claire’s very favorite aspects of the show has been the elaborate costumes, hair, and makeup that brings the underwater world to life. She closed off expressing that “everyone is just so hard-working” exclaiming that “every single person has really made this show wonderful”.
Senior, Will Madsen will portray the role of Prince Eric. Madsen describes Eric as “a total oddball” and quite “awkward, but that’s part of his charm, and it’s so fun to portray that.” He has loved being part of Timpview’s theater program sharing, “Mrs. Napierski does a spectacular job making everyone feel seen, appreciated and able to enjoy themselves while still making shows that audiences can really enjoy.” Madsen also shares his love for the Disney magic that is brought to life on stage saying, “The Little Mermaid does a fantastic job of bringing that magic and adventure to life. It’s an awesome mixture of fun, excitement, and heart.” With five years of acting experience, Madsen calls theater his “main passion in life” and is thrilled to share his love of performing with the audience. Lastly he shared that this production is one of the most impressive shows he’s been part of, praising the talent, technology, costumes, and dedication of the cast and crew.
Junior, Sam Rich, will portray the loveable role of Sebastian. To prepare, he has “practiced lots with [his] vocal teacher, especially for all the high notes” and even “worked with some of [his] dad’s Jamaican students” getting some pointers on the Jamaican accent. Sam has loved being a part of Timpviews theater program, and shares its just “such a fun place to be” adding that “Timpview’s theater community is especially welcoming”. He describes the show as fun and magical, loving how it helps people “forget about their worries, and just laugh”. One of his favorite parts of the show has been the sweet kids reactions coming up to the leads with “the most ecstatic look on their face”, beaming with excitement after watching the show. Rich started acting three years ago and “immediately fell in love with the community”, later joining a group at the Scera Theater which he shares has given him a second family. Sam hopes to pursue voice acting sharing, “I know that I’ll always have friends and family their to help me.”
Last but certainly not least, Sophomore, Lucy Kocherhans will be portraying the role of Ursula. Kocherhans shared that “being a part of the Timpview theater department has been incredible” she has “found a community [she] loves, and gained so much passion and appreciation for theater”. She shared that The Little Mermaid has been such a blast, filled with lots of fun moments, and just as many beautiful moments. Kocherhans absolutely loves her fellow actors, techs, and the “lovely Mrs. Napierski who has made this show what it is”. Lucy has been acting for about two years, and plans to continue this passion for a while. Lastly, she expressed her love for theater sharing, “it’s so many beautiful people being so vulnerable and bringing what they have to the table… there is no judgement, just love”.
As the cast and crew continue to collide the beautiful world under the see with the magical human world up above, Timpview’s production of The Little Mermaid promises a heartfelt journey filled with courage, curiosity, and love.
