Okay, Stranger Things fans, get ready. Season 5 is almost here and if you thought Season 4 was intense, just you wait. Vecna is still out there, Hawkins is falling apart, and it looks like the gang’s final fight will be the biggest one yet. The fifth and final season will be released in three separate parts on Netflix: four episodes on November 26th, the next three on December 25th, and the last ever episode of this long running franchise on December 31st.
Stranger Things has been a global hit since it first premiered on July 15, 2016. Twin brothers, Matt and Ross Duffer, created this popular show based on their shared love for 1980’s Stephen King movies, along with their fascination for government conspiracy theories. Its unique story-line, lovable characters, and retro vibe sucked in viewers and kept them begging for more.
Season 4, released in 2022, raised the stakes higher than ever. For the first time, the original group was split between Hawkins, California, and Russia, fighting the same battle from all over the map. In Hawkins, a new villain named Vecna began murdering Hawkins High School students through visions and trauma. Eddie Munson, leader of the Hellfire Club, alongside the rest of the club, fought Vecna and adventured into the Upside Down in hopes of discovering how to end this never ending battle. In California, we followed Eleven and the Byers as Eleven struggled to regain her powers while uncovering the truth behind Vecna. Meanwhile, fans were shocked to learn that Hopper is still alive, trapped in a Russian prison, leading Joyce and Murray to pursue a difficult rescue mission.
The season ended with a shocking reveal: Vecna had been the true mastermind behind the Upside Down since the beginning. The series left off with the horrifying sight of the Upside Down taking over Hawkins, leaving the entire town in catastrophe.
As Stranger Things heads into its final season, fans are preparing for the series to deliver its most emotional story yet. This upcoming season may be the last, but the legacy of Hawkins, the friendships we’ve all watched been built, and the monster filled mysteries will stick with its fans. And now, as the clock runs out and the Upside Down slowly takes over the town we all learned to love, all we can do is wait… and wonder who will make it out of this final chapter.
