Thirty years ago, Pokémon Red and Blue came out and captured the hearts of everyone who played them. Since then, Pokémon has grown into the biggest media franchise in the world. Spanning everything from trading card games to cartoons. For the franchise’s 30th anniversary, they released a Pokémon Presents: a showcase featuring all of their upcoming projects. They went all out, announcing some exciting things for Pokémon fans around the globe.
For fans of Pokémon mobile games, there was a plethora of updates announced. Pokémon TCG Pocket players will be able to get anniversary-themed rewards for logging in, as well as open Pokémon packs never available before. For Pokémon Unite players, the legendary birds—Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres—will be playable in the game, with more new characters coming soon. Most excitingly, they announced the date for their new mobile game: Pokémon Champions. The game will be released in April 2026. It is a player-vs-player experience where you can build a team of Pokémon and battle people throughout the world.
They also announced a collectible jukebox. Modeled after the original Game Boy, it comes with cartridges containing the original Pokémon music and sound effects. You can put a cartridge into the jukebox to play the music. It launches today, February 27, and costs $69.99.
To cap off the event, they shared the biggest announcement yet: the reveal of the Generat

ion 10 games. Titled Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves. They take place in a tropical region and are set to release exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide in 2027. While we don’t know much yet, they have announced the starters, and we know the games will feature open-world gameplay and diverse biomes. Although information is still vague, it is certainly something to get excited about.
Pokémon has given us a lot of exciting news, and there will surely be more to come. Until then, we have tons of interesting things to dive into and experience. It was a great first 30 years, and fans will continue to enjoy this franchise for years to come.
