Timpview High School’s Marching Band is a monumental program that has won countless awards and only continues to become more grand. This school year they have won 1st place four times and 2nd place twice at the competitions they have competed in. They rehearse twice a week for four hours or more. Over the summer they perform in parades and during the school year they play at assemblies, sports games, and concerts. They work extremely hard to make the school better for all of the students and are a fundamental part of the school’s spirit and atmosphere.

The Band President, Cannon Hadfield, is in 11th grade and has been a part of the marching band for three years. “Marching Band is pretty rad,” he says, “the vibes in marching band are really great and it’s always a pleasure to be there.” For a long time, the marching band has gone relatively unnoticed compared to other performing arts and extracurricular programs and has gotten less attention than its counterparts despite being an area of school pride. They perform along with the color guard who spend hours perfecting their stunts and moves. Hadfield says “Despite our slight invisibility, we still have a great time and have developed a great community and we’re always inviting and welcoming people to join and support us.”

The Timpview Marching Band is a wonderful part of the school that contains so many amazing students. They could be in your class, next to you in the hallway, or even one of your friends. They work tirelessly to bring a little more music to our school so make sure next time you hear the jolly sounds of the drums and trumpets… cheer a little louder.
