In the photo above we see a prime example of the epidemic that is sweeping Timpview… Carhartt jackets and work wear attire. This trend has been a statement within the fashion scene at Timpview and is very boring and dumb. First of all the whole point of the brand Carhartt and work wear is to be worn while working and building houses as blue collar workers as it is very durable and thick materials. The person in this photo is very obviously a poser who has never worked a day in their life. Of course, he’s also wearing the dickies double knee work pants (absolute loser), it’s very easy to sniff out one of these posers when you see them. A big reason for this trend starting was people obsessing over “vintage” jackets that you find at the thrift store. Since this trend, you see them everywhere posted for ridiculous prices, all to wear somebody’s old work jacket that is not cool or interesting whatsoever. 

Whatever happened to the good old days of skinny jeans and Nike dri-fit hoodies? I miss the days when I could roll out in my skinny jeans and a silly t-shirt that says “I’d rather be gaming!”. But nowadays all you see are those bulky ugly jackets with baggy pants and quite honestly it has just become dull and unoriginal. I interviewed one of my classmates and this is what they had to say about the whole situation “In my opinion there is not a clothing item more stupid and idiotic to wear than a faded Carthartt green jacket with a brown collar, and whoever has that is a horrible person with no sense of style” -Jamo Yocum. Although it may be a little mean or blunt of him to say I completely agree with his remarks.

To conclude I believe we should stop with the Carhartt and the baggy work pants and begin to innovate new fashion trends. For example, something original that I haven’t seen much of yet has been beanies with a spider web design that comes in all different colors! I believe that could be something that could be very original and not saturated in any way!
