The 2019 Sub For Santa total has been released by Student Government. The total came to $64,092. The money goes to helping families in the Provo-Orem area have a better Christmas. Last year’s total was around $190,000.
The money came from the past month’s class collections, local business donations, and other events such as the Ugly Sweater Stag, caroling, and Soup for Santa.
According to the Sub For Santa website, Timpview has conducted the Sub For Santa tradition for 12 years and has helped more than 1,000 families.

a lot of people thought the competitive nature of the sub for Santa was wrong and that it made the whole thing less about the people it helped. It doesn’t because at the end of the day, the people still benefit from how much money we raise. Then because people stopped getting competitive, people stopped donating. Competitiveness is not inherently bad and I think it helped us in previous years get the job done. $125,908 is the figure difference that last years extreme competitiveness made over this years efforts. No matter if the money was giving to truly help, or to get bragging rights, that money made a difference to those families we helped. and This year our ability to help was limited to 64,000, 3X less than what we could have repeated with the competions and parties of years past.
