Senior Night For Vera

Senior+Night+For+Vera

The Thunderbirds have a chance to win the Volleyball 5A state championship for the second year in a row. Wednesday, October 25 at 6:30 pm is Timpview Volleyball’s senior night, a game to recognize the hard-fought four-year athletes who showed their dedication to Thunderbirds Volleyball. Last year Timpview celebrated several seniors including BYU star Salina Damuni and Long Beach State star Talia Lee. This year the girls will celebrate a sole volleyball teammate, senior Abigail Vera. Vera wears number seven and plays pin hitter for the T Birds. She plans on making an impact tonight versus Salem Hills, a team they lost three sets to none.

Vera has mixed feelings about her last home season game (senior night). When asked how she felt she replied, “I am excited and not excited at the same time. I am not excited to leave the bond I made with these girls behind. I am super excited to play in front of my family and represent Timpview one last time in the Thunderdome.” Volleyball has meant a lot to her over the years. “Volleyball keeps me in shape and helps me meet new people.” Vera explained her experience as a four-year student and volleyball player at Timpview as the best experience a teenager could ask for. She loves the coaches and the teammates as well as the teachers and her friends in her classes. We also interviewed a close friend and teammate of Vera, Alyceia Maea. We asked her how she felt about Abby and she exclaimed, “Abby is very positive and has a great attitude. She makes practices fun and really brings the team together sort of like a family.”

If she could give any advice to the incoming freshmen on the team, she “would tell them to get extra reps and have the most energy.” A fun fact to know about Abby is that the reason she wears the number seven is because her older cousin has the exact same birthday as her (March 7th) and also wore the number seven in high school. Abby also runs track for Timpview and is excited to start track up in a few months. As dedicated Timpview Thunderbird fans, we emphasize the importance of supporting all our athletes with respect and love, discouraging any form of online or in-person bullying or discrimination.
