Timpview Year in Review and what to look forward to

Timpview+Year+in+Review+and+what+to+look+forward+to

This year has been exciting and special here at Timpview, it is a year to go in the books. We have gotten a lot of changes to our school with 2 new wings and more to come. Our sports teams have also had great years with our football team winning state for the first time since 2014, boys basketball had a tough loss in the semifinals to defending champs Alta, but despite that still had an incredible year with a 19-7 season record. Our girl’s cross country team took State by a long shot at the 5000 meters with Sophmore Lily Alder, Junior Ellie Esplin, Senior Kaylee Cheney,  Sophmore Gwen Boulton, racing well, and also Junior star Jane Hedengren who took 1st with the time of 17:14.70, Hedengren has had a phenomenal year this year, taking 2nd in Nationals with the crazy time of 9:49.45 setting her PR for the 2-mile and becoming the Gatorade player of the year!!! It is safe to say that there are some amazing people here at Timpview and the future is in good hands. The basketball team this year was comprised mainly of sophomore starters, so the basketball team is still young and is bound to improve and have a better season next year. As we enter the next and final term of the school year there are still a few more sports to enjoy like boys and girls Lacrosse, boys Soccer, girls Golf, boys Volleyball, and Baseball. The athletes continue to have a blast playing for a school, although in shambles because of construction, they still love Timpview and are doing the best they can to make it a good experience. The Sports Trainers and Athletic Director Wendy Anae are doing their best to give the athletes opportunities to progress in the sports they love.

Although at the beginning of the year, the school was rough, with floods and staying in the old building, we looked forward to the new school with anticipation. Now our patience has paid off; we progressed into a small part of a new building where almost all the technology-based classes take place and then we finally made the move into the new main building, although part of the commons isn’t finished, it is fair to say that we have a reason to be grateful for the new building and things that come with it, like bigger and better classrooms that are better equipped for teaching, renewed resources, and new equipment, it is a reasonable statement to say that we are getting more done in the time we have in the classroom. While there have already been many major changes, there are still a couple of major changes happening, mostly impacting outdoor sports. First off, they are redoing the bleachers and adding a locker room underneath the bleachers, for the home team to use for games. 2nd, we are getting a new concessions stand, which will be nice but we probably won’t have food trucks during football games anymore but it is still a bonus. 3rd, we are getting our turf redone sometime next year, this is a major change for many people, but a great one because those of you who have played have probably noticed that the plastic grass is getting less and less while the beads are overrunning becoming more and more prevalent.

While they are great, we have so many things to look forward to other than campus improvements, with the end of the year approaching we can look forward to a lighter workload and fun traditions like Spirit Bowl, Senior Assassin, and Senior pranks. These things are just some things to look forward to, I am the most excited for Spirit Bowl it’s always just a good time to root for your class and scream your lungs out. Just thinking about the end of the year, I think of warm weather and hanging out outside, unfortunately, the groundhog lied to us this year and we have had an extra long winter and I am done with it. Let’s hope the weather warms up and we can live to our fullest with the Spring weather! Let’s all remember the good things that have happened and the things that we should look forward to in the final stretch of the year! Good luck to everyone during term 4!
