The Weekly Review: Stanley Cups

About: I am sure all of you have heard of Stanley Tumblers. They came out of nowhere and automatically skyrocketed to the top of the water bottle industry. Through apps like TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat, the business was able to gain many customers as influencers were being seen promoting and truly loving the brand. They have a plethora of options when it comes to colors, and are constantly coming out with more. What do you think about this odd, cult-like trend?

Pros VS. Cons: The pros of owning a Stanley are that they do in fact keep your ice intact and your water cold, they have a handle to hold onto, and they are easy to clean. The cons, however, are that the water leaks out of the top if tipped over, they do not fit in all cupholders, and they are big and clunky and annoying to carry around.

Personal Opinion: I think that the whole Stanley trend is very odd. There are many other options when it comes to water bottles that are much better. The benefits of the Stanley cups, I think, are the absolute bare minimum when it comes to water bottles, so why not try to find one with even more pros? I believe that this trend really showcases the power that social media has over so many of us, as that is where this weird obsession stemmed originally. If you like Stanley cups, great! I just think it is quite strange how they came to be and why they have so much hype.
