Timpview suffered a heartbreaking triple overtime loss in the 5A state championship against Lehi. The final score was 29-23. Timpview lost on a walk-off touchdown thrown by Lehi in three overtimes. Timpview fought hard from kick-off till the very last minute.
The game had every aspect of football from three interceptions to over 850 total offensive yards, four fumbles, and two 100-yard rushers. The game was a dogfight for that the state title. Both teams opened up the game with a touchdown on their first drive and both missed the extra point keeping the game at a close 6-6.
The remainder of the first half consisted of two interceptions, two fumbles, and a defensive stop by Lehi. To top off the mad capped action in the first half Lehi scored with 30 seconds left and led 13-6 going into halftime.
Timpview answered back to tie the score at 13 at the end of regulation.
The first overtime opened with a fantastic drive that ended in a rushing touchdown for Timpview. Lehi responded in a similar fashion with their own rushing touchdown.
Timpview got a stop in the second overtime, but couldn’t capitalize.
Timpview turned the ball over in the third overtime, and Lehi struck gold on the next play with a walk-off touchdown pass to win the game, and the state championship.
