Movie Review: M3GAN

M3GAN (2022) - IMDbThe new movie Megan is a horror/sci-fi film directed by Gerard Johnstone. This movie is about an 8-year-old girl named Cady (Violet McGraw), who is taken in by her aunt Gemma (Allison Williams) after Cady’s parents were killed in a tragic snow-plowing accident. As Gemma takes in Cady she soon realizes she is not used to having kids around. Luckily Gemma had been working on a new toy named M3GAN at work. M3GAN is the only toy your kids will ever need. As Cady was testing the toy things did not go to plan.

Before seeing M3GAN, I was expecting a lot of jump scares, gore, suspense and blood. My expectations were not met. It took too long to get past the introduction, making the movie much longer than it needed to be. Along with not enough horror, this movie busted out random songs that did not fit the vibe of the movie. If you get scared of movies easily this would be a good movie to start with. The film is much more Sci-fi than horror. Although the plot was anti-climatic the actors in this movie illustrated the emotions you would be feeling in situations like these very well. I would recommend you wait and watch this movie when you can rent it when it goes on Netflix or other streaming apps. I would watch this movie again, but I wish I went to watch it on 5$ Tuesday at the theaters.
